Hippy Summer was painted in the warmth of summertime, and it hit close to home in a way few early Bone Series pieces did. I loved playing with the organs and structures of the torso — especially the tree‑spine — and letting them merge with a sunset over the mountains. I added gray tones in the hips as a reflection of my own hip replacements, a quiet nod to the progress and relief that gave me a new lease on life. This piece is about joy, healing, and being present in a body that finally feels like it can move without chronic pain.
